Eclipse’ gets a PG-13 rating!
It was all but guaranteed that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse would be rated PG-13 (or at least aim to be so), and now the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has released its rating for the film, giving it the well-expected PG-13 for “intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality.”
Box Office Mojo has an interesting piece of analysis as to how Eclipse’s rating fares compared with Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Both Twilight and New Moon were PG-13 as well, but for slightly different, and somewhat telling, reasons: Twilight garnered its rating due to “some violence and a scene of sensuality,” while New Moon earned it for “some violence and action.” Confirming what the most recent trailer suggested, Eclipse’s rating indicates that the action quotient has been ramped up compared to the first two movies.
