Is ‘Twilight’ Director Catherine Hardwicke Leaving Summit?

The director of the first Twilight movie; Catherine Hardwicke is said to be departing from Summit Ent. due to be gearing up another teen drama “If I Stay”. However, there are no hard feelings for this move since first movie brought the studio $385 million in worldwide box-office receipts.
Citing sources close to the director, the Times indicated that the likely move has nothing to do with any soured relationship between Hardwicke and Summit. Rather, it’s a matter of a scheduling conflict, as the director would need to focus exclusively on “Red Riding Hood,” a film she signed on to in August, for the next several months.
Scripted by “Orphan” writer David Johnson, the film is said to be a gothic retelling of the classic “Red Riding Hood” tale, complete with werewolves and a teenage love triangle. Sound anything like “New Moon”? A revised script is expected to be delivered in January and, surely based on its similarity to elements of the “Twilight” franchise, is a priority for Warner Brothers.
With now two more Twilight films and much talk about upcoming directors, there is no doubt there will be a shortage. Hardwicke did an amazing job bringing the first movie to the screen and will not be forgotten from the Twilight Saga. Now all we can do is move on and hope the future directors will do the same.

5 Directors Who Could Tackle ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’
The Twilight Saga is almost complete as Eclipse has wrapped up filming and more news is starting to come out on Breaking Dawn. We all know by now that New Moon made extreme box office records all over world within it’s opening weekend, but now the question becomes…Who’s going to take the role of Directing Breaking Dawn. MovieFone has announced that there are 5 possible directors to take upon the task of directing this what is now a two part series.
Summit Ent. will have no shortage for choosing from one of these five possible directors Tim Burton, Catherine Hardwicke, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, and Len Wiseman.
Catherine Hardwicke: She brought the first movie to life and set the stage for other directors, so it might seem fitting and nice that she tie it all together in the end and reunite with the original cast as the curtain closes. However, her lack of experience in special effects — and the general sense that the first ‘Twilight’ film didn’t meet expectations — makes her a long shot.
Tim Burton: Burton has a known fondness for Gothic love tales (see: ‘Corpse Bride,’ ‘Beetlejuice’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’), and his imagination expands far beyond most minds. Even ‘Twilight’ cast members Jamie Campbell Bower and Ashley Greene are crossing their fingers in the hopes that he’ll sign onto the project. Maybe they’re hoping he’ll bring along his male muse, Johnny Depp.
Peter Jackson: Best known for bringing ‘The Lord of the Rings’ novels to life on the big screen, he is a master behind the lens. His ability to turn a simple conversation between characters into a highly detailed scene could take ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the next level. Jackson’s background in the fantasy genre would be a perfect fit for the Bella transformation plot of the final novel. Just imagine the power of ‘Twilight’ and ‘LOTR’
