‘Twilight’ hate getting boring?

In recent months, particularly those following the vociferous roar that Twilight fans made in the box office with The Twilight Saga: New Moon, media treatment of Twilight fans has (for the most part) been rather deferential . . . a “well, if you like it, that’s your opinion” attitude has seemingly ingrained itself into the general media consensus on the subject of Twilight.

This, to say the least, has been great.

However, as with a great many things popular, there are still those that simply hate the series for one reason or another.

Most Twilight fans aren’t bothered by the idea of someone not liking the same books or movies that they do. You find anti-feminist undertones in the Saga and want to talk about that? Fine. Not a fan of the actors’ facial expressions? Okay, no problem. The thing that gets most Twilight fans is the idea that some people out there are being spiteful just to be spiteful, not really knowing or caring what or who they’re talking about. The “oh the vampires are sparkly so you all must be unfamiliar with real vampires” diatribe is trite and so is the stereotype that Twilight fans are all young, immature, and illiterate.

What are your thoughts on all of this “twilight hate”?

David Slade tweets then deletes about new ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ trailer?

Director David Slade is rather well known for his Twitter-based shenanigans, but last night’s antics might just take the cake for being the most exciting.

Slade tweeted about a seemingly new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer and then quickly deleted the tweet from his page, claiming that if anyone saw it, he denies it.

“[A]nd wow I saw an amazing rough cut of a new trailer, but I am not allowed to talk about that. So if you read this tweet, I deny I tweeted,” he said.

The first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse debuted in mid-March, and the first sneak peek for the film was offered up just a couple of days later.

As you well know, with Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon there were a ton of sneak peeks, trailers, and TV spots released before the films came to theaters, so chances are with Eclipse there’ll be a similar amount of content released prior to the film’s theatrical debut. The only real question is: when?

Do note that David Slade’s tweet did not explicitly say that he was referring to Eclipse, but most fans have perceived the message as such.

Don’t know why he would hide it . . . the idea of a new forthcoming Eclipse trailer is something to celebrate indeed (be it by Twitter or otherwise)!

Slade went on to tweet about a camera lens, adding a picture of what looks to be a very angry werewolf. Perhaps, Jacob?

Breaking Dawn’ director spot likely to go to Bill Condon?

One of these days, talk about who will direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will subside. Of course, that’ll only happen when an official production company statement from Summit Entertainment comes down the pike, so until then, the guessing game continues.

This time, the news is from Deadline Hollywood, which reports that Oscar-winning Dreamgirls, Kinsey, and Gods And Monsters director Bill Condon is the number one choice for the post.

“Summit Entertainment hasn’t signed him, but I’m told that after several strong meetings, they are negotiating,” Deadline’s Mike Fleming reports.

Again, the smartest trend is to assume nothing is official until it is official, but it’s certainly interesting to hear this sort of industry buzz on the matter.

Are you familiar with his work, and, if so, do you think Bill Condon would be a good fit for Breaking Dawn?

Nathan Lane spoofs ‘Eclipse’ trailer on Letterman

Lane went onto Late Show With David Letterman and brought this video clip from Eclipse. Only, he added a little something of his own performance as “the vampire kids’ cranky next-door neighbor.”

About his performance, Lane joked that “they liked it so much that I’ve been asked to do the next six Twilight films . . . it’s a pivotal but small role.”

In the clip, Lane interrupts the infamous meadow sequence from the picture by saying, “hey you Transylvanian freaks, get . . . off my petunias!”

Watch it here!

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ still images revealed

Just released by Twilight film studio Summit Entertainment are three new The Twilight Saga: Eclipse still images!

These come on the heels of today’s announcement that Stephenie Meyer is releasing a new Twilight book and that the book’s storyline has been incorporated into the script for the film.

The three images are each different. This one, pictured right, is of the Cullen family in what looks to be a protective or defensive stance. This is probably derived from the battle sequences in the film.

The next is of Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) together looking at what seems to be the campfire during Billy Black’s Quileute story-telling scene.
