This June, Xavier Samuel will have not just one but two films reach theatrical release. The first is The Loved Ones, which will first make a stay at SxSW before being released in Australia on June 1st. The second, obviously, is The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, releasing June 30th in the United States. In Eclipse, Samuel portrays “Riley Biers.”
While doing a promotional interview for The Loved Ones, Samuel got the chance to talk a little more about how being a part of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has affected his life.
“Has being cast in the next ‘Twilight’ film (‘Eclipse’) changed your life?” the interviewer asks.
“It’s kind of strange to me really because I haven’t seen it. It’s kind of like, it seems a bit bizarre that they’re taking my photos. The film hasn’t even come out yet. It’s funny because on the way up here, there was like a crowd of people outside, and I hear this ‘Who are you?’ ‘ Are you famous?’ You know, they’re just like, I think the celebrity thing is such a bizarre phenomenon, you know, that it’s kind of like, you know, it’s intoxicating or something, people just want to be around to see for the sake of it. But you know that kind of attention, while I haven’t kind of been under the microscope the same way that a lot of the other cast have, I think it’s still possible to lead a reasonably normal life. I kind of feel like sunglasses are a little bit of a security blanket for me, I feel a bit naked if I step out without them,” Samuel reveals.

Xavier Samuel talks about his Sydney audition for ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’
Did you know that some of the The Twilight Saga: Eclipse auditions for the part of “Riley Biers” took place in Australia? Well, now you do!
Samuel explains that his first audition for the role of Riley took place in Sydney, Australia.
“Just did an audition here in Sydney . . . the audition kind of came along, and then I put it down on tape, sent it over, and then flew to Vancouver and it was kind of happening before I knew it,” he explained. “There’s a lot of hysteria surrounding [the Twilight series].”
It was also noted that “With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, the nationality of cast mates will be at its pinnacle of diversity (as necessitated by the book’s description of the newest characters’ origins).” Fair enough, huh? It’ll be interesting to see where auditions will take place for Breaking Dawn, then, won’t it? The Amazon? Ireland? Romania? Hmm . . .
Of course, the conversation eventually devolved into matters a little less relevant to Samuel’s career (and the film), but Samuel handled it like a pro, did he not? Take a look!

Xavier Samuel says ‘Eclipse’ director David Slade is ‘very technically astute’
Xavier Samuel, the newest addition to the Twilight Saga came out and confirmed that many other’s have suspected about Eclipse director David Slade. “He’s uber intelligent, very technically astute director.” Samuel stated
If you are following Slade on Twitter you’ll know how active the director has been on updating the filming of the movie. From the many images and statements, many have gathered the impression he has certainly left is methodical and precise.
“It seems like David has approached it very differently to the previous directors – I think he’s really embracing the darker side of it, which is really cool,” Xavier Samuel continued.
After having two different directors in the movie, who knows how Slade’s image will compare to the rest of the story. I feel that he will have done his job and beyond in this movie, I’m not going to keep my hopes up, but however I will keep an open mind. Will you?

Eclipse’ star Xavier Samuel reacts to his celebrity status
With a number of new cast members in the third installment of the Twilight Saga, there is no doubt that these actors will be living up to some famous names. Xavier Samuel who plays ‘Riley’ is no stranger to the film world, doing a number of films before receiving the part as a vampire.
“I wasn’t used to that sort of attention, so I just took it in my stride, I guess,” he told Adelaide Now. “I think Robert (Pattinson) and Kristen (Stewart) do a really good job in dealing with fans. They seem to handle it really well, so if I can take a leaf out of their book I should be OK.”
Samuel gave a few intelligent words of insight as well. “If you want to know what happens in the movie, just read the book.” On the other hand, particularly where Samuel is concerned, there’ve been some notable changes in the storyline of Eclipse for the film – ones which, so far, have been well received. For instance, there was some speculation offered up this October about a scene with “Riley” being the first of the film – a scene which, thanks to the first-person perspective of “Bella” in the books, was as-yet-unseen for readers. Should be interesting, shouldn’t it?
